FAIRLEA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The No. 8 Greenbrier East Spartans came out on top in a hard-fought battle Friday night, defeating the No. 9 Class AA James Monroe Mavericks 29–14 on their home field.
Both teams traded momentum early, but Greenbrier East found its rhythm in the second half, pulling away with key offensive drives and strong defensive stands to seal the win.

With the win, Greenbrier East improves to 6–3 on the season and will close out its regular season next Friday night on the road against the Nitro Wildcats.
James Monroe, also 6–3, will look to bounce back when it hosts the Tug Valley Panthers next Friday night in its regular-season finale.
