PINEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Gregory A. Bishop, Marine Corps veteran, former West Virginia State Trooper, and recently retired Prosecuting Attorney for Wyoming County, has formally filed to run for the West Virginia House of Delegates representing District 35.
“I am running because District 35 needs experienced leadership focused on results,” Bishop said.
“I have committed my entire adult life to the service of others—as a Marine, a State Police officer, and a Prosecuting Attorney. Seeking a seat in the House of Delegates is a natural progression to bring those lessons and experiences to the law-making process.”
“Legislators are called ‘lawmakers’ for a reason,” Bishop said. “Their primary responsibility is to write laws that work in the real world. As a West Virginia State Trooper, I enforced laws passed by the Legislature and saw firsthand how they affected citizens at the grassroots level—where they succeeded and where they fell short. As a law school graduate and former Prosecuting Attorney, I understand how laws are drafted, how statutes are written, and how courts interpret and apply legislation. I don’t just vote on laws—I understand how they are written, read, enforced, and challenged.”
“I believe the two most important issues facing District 35 are infrastructure and economic development,” Bishop said. “Solving complex problems requires more than good intentions. No single Delegate accomplishes anything alone. Progress requires working with other legislators to build consensus and move real solutions forward—skills such as diplomacy, arbitration, and mediation that have been central to my experience in the practice of law.”
“This campaign is not about me—it is about us,” Bishop said. “It is about building a future worthy of the sacrifices so many have made for our state and our nation.”
