HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two men have been arrested following an investigation into stolen firearms in Summers County, according to the Summers County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began on March 17, 2026, in the Esquire Cemetery area of Hinton after reports of possible stolen firearms. Authorities identified the suspects as Ralph Shaun New and William Rutherford, both of Hinton.
According to deputies, both men have been charged with burglary, grand larceny, conspiracy, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Investigators said the firearms were originally stolen during a burglary on Ballengee Street in Hinton. As a result of the investigation, deputies recovered a total of 10 stolen firearms.
The Summers County Sheriff’s Office reports that additional arrests are pending and several firearms connected to the case remain unaccounted for.
