(LOOTPRESS) – Catherine O’Hara, the acclaimed actress and comedian known for her work in television and film over more than five decades, has died at the age of 71, her representatives confirmed Friday.
O’Hara passed away on January 30, 2026, at her home in Los Angeles following a brief illness, according to her agency.
The Canadian-American star became a household name with roles that included Kevin McCallister’s mother in the Home Alone films and the eccentric Moira Rose on the hit comedy series Schitt’s Creek, for which she won an Emmy Award.
Her career began in sketch comedy in Toronto and expanded to include movies such as Beetlejuice and Christopher Guest mockumentaries like Best in Show and A Mighty Wind.
Most recently, she appeared in the Apple TV+ series The Studioand received award nominations for her work.
At the time of her death, no official cause of death had been released.
O’Hara’s body of work was widely praised for its versatility and humor, earning her a place among the most respected comic performers of her generation.
