MADISON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Madison Little League community is mourning the loss of one of its youngest players after 6-year-old Briggs Bias was killed in a motocross accident on Saturday, June 21.
In a statement shared on social media, the league remembered Briggs for the joy he brought to those around him and expressed its support for his family during the difficult time.
“Today, our hearts are heavy as we remember and honor the life of Briggs Bias,” the statement begins.
The league said Briggs’ “joy, laughter, and light” touched his family, friends, teammates and the community, adding that “his time with us was far too short.”
Madison Little League also asked the community to continue supporting the Bias family.
“Please keep the Bias family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this unimaginable loss. May they find strength in the love surrounding them and comfort in the countless memories of their precious little boy,” the league said.
The statement concluded, “Rest easy, sweet Briggs. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts and will never be forgotten.”
In the wake of the tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign organized by Setra Weagel has been created to help the Bias family with funeral and memorial expenses, as well as everyday costs in the weeks and months ahead.
The fundraiser states, “No family should ever have to endure the heartbreak of losing a child,” adding that donations “will help ease the financial burden and allow them to focus on grieving, healing, and honoring their son’s memory.”
The fundraiser also encourages those who are unable to contribute financially to share the campaign and keep the Bias family “in your thoughts and prayers.”
Community members have continued to offer an outpouring of condolences and support for the family following the loss of the young baseball player.
