BOONE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Boone County man was taken into custody Monday evening after allegedly pointing a rifle at a woman and her juvenile daughter during a disturbance in the Orgas area.
According to the West Virginia State Police, Trooper M.D. Veres and Deputy B.G. Browning with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence located at 29460 Coal River Road around 4:50 p.m. on April 14.
Upon arrival, officers detained the man, identified as Andrew Linville Stover, for safety reasons. During the initial contact, Stover reportedly admitted to obtaining a .223 caliber rifle and pointing it at the woman, claiming she had exited the home with the intent to harm him. He said he raised the weapon in response.
According to statements from both the woman and her daughter, the incident occurred when they walked to the garage to locate Stover. At that time, Stover allegedly retrieved the firearm and aimed it at them, repeatedly stating, “I will shoot.” Both individuals then fled back into the residence.
The juvenile daughter confirmed the account, stating she and her mother were confronted by Stover with the weapon and that they quickly returned to the house out of fear.
Stover has been charged with two counts of domestic assault and two counts of brandishing a deadly weapon. The charges stem from officers’ observations and statements from those involved.
