RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A security guard was shot and killed Monday night at Glade Springs, according to authorities.
Raleigh County Sheriff Frank Priddy tells LOOTPRESS the shooting occurred around 9 p.m. during an altercation at the front gate of the high-end housing development.
In a public update, Sheriff Priddy said that on Feb. 16, 2026, deputies with the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting at the Glade Springs guard shack. Upon arrival, deputies located a Glade Springs security guard suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Following what the sheriff described as an extensive investigation, Michael Lloyd Taylor, 60, of the Piney View area, was identified as the suspect and taken into custody in connection with the incident. He has been charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Authorities previously confirmed that one individual had been arrested overnight in connection with the shooting. The names of the victim and additional details have not yet been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
