FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Three suspects are facing charges after a shoplifting incident at a Fayetteville Walmart escalated into a foot chase through a busy shopping center Saturday evening.
According to the Fayetteville Police Department, officers responded to a report on March 21, 2026, from the Oak Hill Police Department about multiple individuals accused of stealing merchandise from the Walmart on Town Center Road. Authorities were also informed the suspects’ vehicle—a red Chevrolet Silverado—had broken down in the parking lot.
When officers arrived, they located the truck in the lot and observed a large quantity of unbagged merchandise both inside and underneath the vehicle. Three individuals were identified at the scene: Raymond Clinton Davis, Cynthia Dawn Simpkins, and Clarissa Gabrielle Blevins, who initially provided officers with a false name.
As officers began recovering the suspected stolen items, Simpkins fled on foot across the parking lot but was quickly apprehended. Moments later, Blevins also ran in the opposite direction, leading officers on a chase that ended inside a nearby restaurant, where she was taken into custody near the restroom area.
Police say the suspects had entered the store around 4:30 p.m., loading shopping carts with merchandise and exiting without paying. Store asset protection staff later reviewed surveillance footage, confirming the theft. The total value of the stolen items was reported at $1,358.66.
During questioning, Davis admitted to driving the group to multiple Walmart locations throughout the day, including a stop in Summersville, where similar thefts allegedly occurred. He told officers he was aware of the activity and said the group planned to resell the stolen merchandise. Davis also admitted to personally stealing an item from the store.
All three suspects were arrested, read their Miranda rights, and transported to the Fayetteville Police Department for processing before being taken to Southern Regional Jail to await arraignment.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
