CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia Republican Party announced significant gains in voter registration for April, marking one of the largest month-to-month increases in Republican registration in state history.
From April 1st through April 22nd, Republican voter registration increased by 6,776 new registrants, while Democrats lost 792 voters. During the same period, Unaffiliated and Independent registrations decreased by 2,457 voters.
Just this year, Republicans have gained 10,800 voters, Democrats have lost 5,022 voters, and Independent/Unaffiliated have lost 3,250 voters.
As a result of these changes, total statewide voter registration now stands at:
- Republicans: 519,756
- Democrats: 327,089
- Unaffiliated/Independent: 301,933
These figures released by the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office, reflect a continued realignment of West Virginia voters toward Republican values and leadership. The historic surge in Republican registration highlights increased enthusiasm and engagement among voters who support conservative principles, economic growth, and accountable government.
“We’re seeing a clear and undeniable shift across West Virginia,” said Chairman Josh Holstein. “This is one of the largest monthly gains our party has ever seen, and it speaks volumes about where voters stand today. They are choosing Republican leadership because it delivers results and reflects their values.”
Chairman Josh Holstein continued, “The Democrats are collapsing in West Virginia and the end of that collapse is nowhere in sight. Regardless of the rhetoric espoused by the West Virginia Democratic Party, voters continually express their disapproval of Democrats and support for Republicans in voter registration and at the ballot box. The validation of the voters is what matters to us.”

Early voting for the upcoming election will take place from April 29th through May 9th, offering voters a convenient opportunity to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day.
