RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update regarding a reported incident involving a possible human trafficking situation at the Walmart in MacArthur.
According to Sheriff Frank Priddy, the matter remains under active investigation. However, investigators have determined there is currently no evidence indicating a human trafficking threat connected to the incident.
“The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office is aware of the reported incident involving a possible human trafficking situation at the Walmart in MacArthur,” Priddy said in a statement.
Officials said information gathered during the investigation has led deputies to believe the situation is related to mental health concerns rather than human trafficking.
“Based on information obtained thus far, investigators have determined that there is no evidence indicating a human trafficking threat in this incident,” the statement said.
“At this time, the investigation suggests this is a mental health-related situation, and deputies are working with the appropriate resources to address and resolve the matter.”
The sheriff’s office thanked the public for its concern and cooperation as the investigation continues.
