FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man died Sunday after an apparent electrocution following a vehicle crash on Armstrong Creek Road, according to Fayette County Sheriff Jess McMullen.
McMullen said deputies with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department responded early Sunday, June 28, to a report of a man on fire who had possibly been electrocuted.
When deputies arrived, they found the man deceased in the roadway with significant traumatic burn injuries, according to McMullen.
Investigators believe a vehicle found overturned in a nearby creek is connected to the incident.
According to McMullen, witness statements indicate the victim exited the creek after the crash, came into contact with a downed utility line and collapsed.
The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.
