BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Emergency crews are responding to reports of submerged vehicles on Robert C. Byrd Drive in Beckley following heavy rainfall Sunday afternoon.
Multiple rounds of showers have led to high water in several areas across southern West Virginia, with flooding impacting roadways in Beckley.
As of Sunday afternoon, floodwaters have made portions of Robert C. Byrd Drive near Ollie’s and the intersection with North Kanawha Street nearly impassable. Fire and EMS crews have been dispatched to the area.
Motorists are urged to avoid flooded roadways and never attempt to drive through standing water.
Drivers are urged to follow the National Weather Service’s safety message: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
