LEWIS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Lewis County officials say a body recovered at Stonewall Jackson Lake is not connected to the deadly flooding that struck the county earlier this week.
According to a press release from the City of Weston, there are no missing or unaccounted-for individuals remaining in Lewis County following the July 21 flooding.
Officials said they are aware of the deceased individual found at Stonewall Jackson Lake on Friday. However, authorities have confirmed the death is not related to the flooding, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Recovery efforts continue across the county, with the West Virginia National Guard conducting debris removal operations. Residents are asked to place flood debris at the curb for collection.
Officials also said flood-damaged vehicles have been removed from public roadways and taken to a designated flood debris site. Vehicle owners are encouraged to contact their insurance companies to begin the assessment process.
The Lewis County Health Department is also advising residents whose private wells were inundated by floodwaters not to use the water until it has been properly tested and determined safe. Bottled water is available through the Weston Donation Center.
