WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A woman was arrested early Tuesday morning after allegedly running into traffic and nearly causing a crash along WV Route 971.
According to a criminal complaint, Wyoming County 911 received a report around 1:30 a.m. on August 18 that a woman had stopped an emergency unit in the roadway and claimed someone was trying to kill her.
When an officer arrived, the woman—identified as Sarah Elizabeth Lane—was reportedly sitting on the rear bumper of the vehicle. Emergency personnel told the officer that Lane had run into the roadway while they were responding to another call, nearly causing a collision.
Police said Lane appeared confused, repeatedly attempted to walk away and gave conflicting information about her identity. The officer also reported that Lane’s pupils were pinpoint and did not respond to light.
Lane allegedly began talking to herself and would not answer questions about whether she had a safe place to stay. She reportedly declined an offer to be taken to the hospital.
Lane was arrested and transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department for processing.
The allegations have not been proven in court, and Lane is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
