HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Hinton Railroad Days kicked off Friday, October 9, with picture-perfect weather as visitors gathered in downtown Hinton for the first day of the annual three-day festival.
The festival, which continues Saturday and Sunday, features a wide variety of arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, live music, a beer garden, and activities for visitors of all ages.
Dozens of visitors also arrived in Hinton Friday aboard Amtrak’s Cardinal, a passenger train that operates three days a week between New York City and Chicago, passing through southern West Virginia.
Dozens more passengers are expected to arrive by train on Sunday for the final day of the festival.
The Hinton Railroad Museum is also open throughout the weekend, offering visitors a look at the area’s rich railroad history. Model train layouts are on display upstairs for festivalgoers to enjoy.
Live entertainment is scheduled throughout the weekend on both the Main Stage and Rivertown Stage, with performances by numerous local and regional musicians.
Saturday’s activities include a car show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., while arts and crafts vendors and the kids zone will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
On Sunday, vendors and the kids zone will operate from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with live music continuing throughout the afternoon.
Little train rides are also available throughout the weekend from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., while the kids zone on James Street will be open from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Blacksmithing and woodworking demonstrations are also among the attractions available throughout the festival.
Hinton Railroad Days celebrates the city’s longstanding connection to the railroad industry while bringing visitors, vendors, and entertainment to the historic downtown area.
The festival continues through Sunday, October 11.
