FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Fayette County Schools is launching a new communication system aimed at making it easier for families to track student attendance, report absences and submit excuses.
The district announced that Attendance Pro will launch Monday, Aug. 31, 2026.
As part of the new system, each Fayette County school will have its own dedicated phone number for attendance text alerts and automated updates. Families can find their school’s designated number on the school’s website or social media pages.
Parents and guardians will also be able to notify schools of upcoming absences by texting the designated number. The numbers are automated and cannot receive incoming voice calls.
When families receive an attendance notification, they will be provided with a secure link by text message or email. Through the link, parents and guardians can submit a written explanation or parent note, upload photos or digital copies of medical excuses and send messages directly to the school’s attendance team.
Fayette County Schools also reminded families that under West Virginia law, parent notes and medical excuses for absences must be submitted within three school days of a student returning to school.
The district is asking families to make sure their child’s school has an up-to-date cell phone number and email address on file to ensure they receive attendance notifications.
