RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Raleigh County man is facing felony charges after authorities say he sexually abused a juvenile while acting in a custodial or guardian role.
Jahiem Jayvon Burger, of Sophia, is charged with two counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian, according to a criminal complaint filed in Raleigh County Magistrate Court.
According to the complaint, the allegations came to light during a recorded forensic interview with the juvenile. Investigators said Burger was the boyfriend of the juvenile’s mother and acted in a custodial or guardian role in the home.
The juvenile told investigators that Burger allegedly engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with her on two separate occasions, once around March 2025 and again around December 2025.
The complaint states that during the first alleged incident, the juvenile was asleep in her bedroom when she awoke to Burger touching her inappropriately. She reported that Burger stopped and left the room after she woke up.
During the second alleged incident, the juvenile reported that Burger again touched her inappropriately while she was lying in the living room, according to the complaint.
A Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office detective wrote that investigators had probable cause to believe Burger committed sexual abuse while being in a position of trust or authority and acting in a custodial or guardian capacity.
A magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant.
He was arrested on August 25th. Burger is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond.
The charges against Burger are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
