RAND, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman is facing charges after Kanawha County deputies say she broke into the Rand Community Center and was later found hiding inside a clothes rack.
According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the community center around 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, after receiving a report of a breaking and entering in progress.
Authorities said the complainant had access to a live surveillance feed and saw a woman place a ladder against the building before climbing onto the roof.
Cpl. T.S. Dubiel, Deputy Garretson and Deputy Sergent arrived at the scene and climbed the ladder to the roof, where they reportedly discovered several items and an open window. Deputies then entered the building and began searching for the suspect.
Deputies eventually found Holly April Thacker hiding inside a clothes rack, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators said Thacker had a bag containing several allegedly stolen items. Deputies also reported finding suspected narcotics on her. Authorities said Thacker had also defecated in a bowl inside the room where she was hiding.
Thacker was arrested and charged with breaking and entering and possession of a controlled substance.
According to the sheriff’s office, Thacker admitted to breaking into the community center on two previous occasions. Investigators said those incidents were later confirmed through surveillance video.
Thacker was arraigned in Kanawha County Magistrate Court and ordered held on a $6,000 cash-only bond. She was being held at the South Central Regional Jail.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains active and additional charges are pending.
Thacker is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
