MONTGOMERY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The arrangements for the funeral of Montgomery Fire Chief Benny Filiaggi have been announced by the West Virginia State Fire Marshal.
The services will be held this Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Riverside High School, located at 1 Warrior Way, Belle, WV 25015.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
Viewing: 11 AM-2 PM
Funeral Service: 2 PM
Following the conclusion of the funeral service, a procession will commence from Riverside High School.
The route will proceed as follows: the procession will exit the school and turn right onto Route 60, crossing Chelyan Bridge, then turning left onto Route 61 into Montgomery.
This route has been chosen to allow Chief Filiaggi to be escorted by the Montgomery FD one final time.
Upon arrival in Montgomery, a final call will be made for Chief Filiaggi by Fayette County 911 and Kanawha METRO 911.
After the final calls, the procession will move across the Montgomery Bridge and head west on Route 60 to Montgomery Memorial Park near London, where graveside services will take place.
All are invited to return to Riverside High School for dinner following the graveside services.
No photography or video footage will be permitted inside the school during the visitation or the funeral service.
All emergency response agencies are welcome to bring their vehicles to the services.
To ensure smooth proceedings, please refrain from arriving with emergency vehicles at the school before 11 AM, and make every effort to be on-site no later than 1:30 PM.
During the procession, local residents should anticipate potential traffic blocks or delays.
