MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia State Police will conduct a DUI checkpoint in Mercer County next week as part of an effort to deter impaired driving.
According to a press release from the West Virginia State Police Princeton Detachment, the checkpoint will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, from 6 p.m. until midnight.
The checkpoint will be located along West Virginia Route 104, also known as Oakvale Road, in Mercer County.
State Police said alternate routes of travel will include West Virginia Route 20, U.S. Route 460 and Old Oakvale Road.
The purpose of the checkpoint is to increase public awareness and discourage people from operating vehicles while impaired by drugs or alcohol, according to State Police.
The announcement was issued Sept. 1 by First Sgt. L. Pennington, district commander for West Virginia State Police Troop 6, District 4.
