ST. ALBANS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Pennsylvania man was arrested Wednesday following a drug investigation in St. Albans, according to the St. Albans Police Department.
Police identified the suspect as 31-year-old Kaliff Pope of Philadelphia.
The department’s Special Enforcement Unit conducted a drug investigation in the 500 block of Drew Street, which resulted in Pope being arrested on a charge of distribution of a controlled substance involving fentanyl.
Police said officers later executed a search warrant at a residence and two storage units, where they recovered suspected fentanyl, a firearm, ammunition and other evidence related to the investigation.
According to police, a records check showed Pope had been wanted for more than a year on parole violations related to weapons charges out of Philadelphia. He was also charged with being a fugitive from justice.
Police said the investigation and seizure have prevented “countless overdoses” in the St. Albans area.
Pope is being held at the South Central Regional Jail.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
