LINCOLN COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Lincoln County man has been charged with murder following a shooting that left another man dead Sunday.
According to West Virginia State Police, troopers from the Logan and Hamlin detachments responded to the Galaxy Food Center in Harts on Sunday, September 13, 2026, following a reported shooting.
A preliminary investigation determined that Nicholas Ramey, 26, of Harts, allegedly discharged a pistol, striking 29-year-old Michael Mitchell, also of Harts.
Mitchell was transported to Logan Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
Ramey was arrested and charged with murder. He was transported to Western Regional Jail to await arraignment.
The West Virginia State Police Crime Scene Team is assisting with the investigation. Next of kin has been notified.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
