MONTCALM, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman was arrested after a 76-year-old resident was allegedly punched, struck with a folding lawn chair and dragged from a porch onto a driveway Sunday night.
Mercer County deputies responded to a fight at a home on Tabernacle Hill Road at approximately 11:41 p.m. September 20. They found the older woman lying on her back in the driveway with injuries to her face, head, hands and knees, according to a criminal complaint.
The responding deputy reported that the woman could not recall what happened and answered “2008” when asked what year it was. EMS arrived to treat her. The complaint does not provide an update on her condition.
A witness told deputies the confrontation began after Xadyk “Davon” Cannady stepped on a kitten and the older woman came outside to confront him. The witness said Cannady pushed her and that Desiree Bradley then attacked her.
Deputies reviewed video from an exterior security camera. According to the complaint, the footage shows the older woman punching Cannady first. Cannady pushed her away and attempted to leave the porch. Bradley then allegedly shoved the woman to the ground, climbed on top of her and repeatedly punched her.
The footage appeared to show Cannady pulling Bradley away. Later, Bradley allegedly confronted the woman again, struck her with a folding lawn chair and dragged her by the ankles down the porch steps onto the paved driveway.
Bradley was arrested and transported to Southern Regional Jail to await arraignment. The complaint excerpt does not specify the charge filed against her.
The deputy also wrote that he intended to request a warrant for the older woman, but the excerpt does not specify a charge or say whether a warrant was issued.
