CLARKSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A North Carolina man has been sentenced to two years in federal prison after investigators intercepted a package containing more than 1.6 pounds of fentanyl that was being shipped to Morgantown.
Jaquan Marquis Brock, 29, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of West Virginia.
Federal officials said U.S. Postal Inspectors intercepted a package that had been mailed from Scottsdale, Arizona, to an apartment in Morgantown where Brock was staying.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the package and discovered more than 1.6 pounds of fentanyl inside.
The U.S. Postal Service and Mon Metro Drug Task Force then conducted a controlled delivery of the package. Brock was arrested in a parking lot after accepting it, according to federal prosecutors.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Cogar prosecuted the case. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Mon Metro Drug Task Force investigated.
The case was prosecuted as part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide U.S. Department of Justice initiative targeting cartels, transnational criminal organizations, violent crime and illegal immigration.
Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the case.
