MONONGALIA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man has been arrested in Monongalia County following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse dating back more than a decade.
According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, Larry J. DeWitt II was arrested Tuesday evening, October 20, on five counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian.
The sheriff’s office began investigating DeWitt in August 2026 after receiving reports of alleged sexual abuse. Investigators said the allegations involve incidents spanning several years, beginning in 2012.
DeWitt was awaiting arraignment following his arrest.
The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives are asking anyone with information about DeWitt or his past activities to contact the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at 304-291-7260.
