PINEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A manufacturing expansion in Wyoming County is expected to create 25 new full-time jobs and bring a new 15,000-square-foot facility to the John D. Rockefeller Industrial Park in Pineville.
Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced Wednesday that the West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council will provide assistance to support the expansion of Oceanetics, a manufacturer specializing in maritime and defense equipment.
The expansion will allow Oceanetics to more than double its workforce, increasing from 20 to 45 employees. The new positions will include skilled jobs in welding, machining, fabrication and engineering.
“West Virginia has the skilled workforce and resources to attract manufacturers that are creating good-paying jobs right here in our state,” said Governor Morrisey.
“This investment will help Oceanetics expand its operations, create new opportunities for families in Wyoming County, and strengthen Southern West Virginia’s growing manufacturing economy. We’re committed to making sure businesses have the infrastructure they need to grow and succeed.”
The project includes construction of a new 15,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at the industrial park, which is owned and managed by the Wyoming County Economic Development Authority.
In addition to the new facility, Oceanetics plans to invest approximately $1.2 million in specialized manufacturing equipment to support its expanded operations.
Oceanetics manufactures advanced maritime buoy systems, naval defense equipment and port security technologies for customers including the U.S. Navy and the energy security sector.
The company acquired Truston Technologies in 2018 and has continued expanding its manufacturing presence in Wyoming County.
Christy Laxton, executive director of the Wyoming County Economic Development Authority, said the state assistance provides the final financing necessary to move the project forward.
“We are deeply grateful to Governor Morrisey and the West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council for providing the final financing needed to move this project forward,” said Christy Laxton, Executive Director of the Wyoming County EDA.
“This expansion allows us to support the growth of an established employer while creating new opportunities for skilled workers and strengthening Wyoming County’s manufacturing future.”
Construction on the new facility is expected to begin soon, with operations anticipated to begin in fall 2027.
