WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Wyoming County Prosecuting Attorney, Derek Laxton, announced today that Timothy Dale Bennett, 64, of Lynco, entered a plea of guilty to second-degree murder on March 24th, 2026.Â
As a result of his conviction for second-degree murder, Bennett faces a potential sentence of not less than ten nor more than forty years in prison.Â
In July of 2024, Trooper Phillip Browning and Trooper Matthew Shifflette were dispatched to Maben following a 911 call in which the caller, Timothy Bennett, told the 911 operator he had shot and killed his girlfriend, Brenda Tilley, after a verbal altercation.Â

That night, Bennett took a shotgun from within the residence and shot and killed Ms. Tilley. Following that investigation, Bennett was taken into custody and subsequently indicted for murder.Â
Bennett will be sentenced in the Circuit Court of Wyoming County on April 30th, 2026, at 3:00P.M. He was remanded to the Regional Jail pending sentencing, where he has been housed since the murder occurred on July 18th, 2024.Â
