State Treasurer Riley Moore today issued the following statement on the passing of former state Sen. Sue Cline, R-Wyoming.

UPDATE: CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Former State Senator Sue Cline has passed away, LOOTPRESS has confirmed.
Rumors of her passing began Monday, according to some friends.
“I felt something was wrong on Sunday,” one friend said. “We called or texted on a regular basis. My last text to her was Friday evening. I heard nothing from her on Saturday, which was unusual.
“When I hadn’t heard from her by noon Sunday, I began to get alarmed and started calling some of our mutual friends. Nobody had heard from her over the weekend.
Subsequent calls and texts brought the “tragic news. A good woman had passed,” the friend said.
Known as a staunch conservative, Cline was initially appointed to fill the unexpired term of Republican Senator Daniel Hall, who had resigned.
She was subsequently defeated in the 2020 GOP Primary by David Stover, who currently holds the seat.

WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Former State Senator Sue Cline has died.
Cline, 75, lived in Brenton, WV, and was born in Wyoming County.
Sue Cline, a Republican, was a member of the West Virginia State Senate, representing District 9. She assumed office on January 25, 2016. She left office on November 30, 2020.
Cline ran for re-election to the West Virginia State Senate to represent District 9. She lost in the Republican primary on June 9, 2020, to David “Bugs” Stover.
Cline was first appointed to the chamber on January 22, 2016, by Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin. She was sworn in to the chamber on January 25, 2016.
