Charleston – After a loss in last year’s Class A championship game, Cameron will get a shot at redemption.
The Lady Dragons nailed five 3-pointers in the first half of a semifinal game against Tucker County, surviving a late surge to beat the Mountain Lions 51-44 Thursday afternoon in the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
Cameron all-stater Ashlynn Van Tassell followed her 29-point, 31-rebound performance on Tuesday with a 20 and 13 outing despite battling early foul trouble. Cameron point guard Kenzie Clutter finished with eight points and 10 assists while Maci Neely added 11 points.
Tucker County’s Kadie Colebank finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds while Macy Helmick scored 15 to lead the Mountain Lions.
Tucker finishes its season at 19-7 while Cameron improves to 23-4.
The Lady Dragons will face the winner of Thursday’s Gilmer County-Webster County matchup on Saturday at 10 a.m.
