Midland Trail 4, Oak Hill 0
Hico – Larry Bigham struck out 13 and pitched a two-hit shutout to lead Midland Trail to a 4-0 win over county rival Oak Hill Wednesday.
Alex Dempsey stayed hot at the plate with a pair of hits including a home run.
Braylan Thomas collected both hits for the Red Devils.
The win came on the heels of a 3-2 win over Nicholas County Tuesday and an 11-1 win over Van Monday.
Trail scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to rally past the Grizzlies in a thriller. Bo Persinger notched the complete game win allowing only four hits along with five strikeouts.
Will McGraw drove in two runs for the Patriots.
Independence 3, Princeton 1 (8 innings)
Princeton – Independence scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning and held on for a 3-1 win Wednesday over Princeton.
The Tigers out-hit the Patriots 8-3, but could not take advantage.
Zach Smith and Zach Helmick each had an RBI for Independence which will be back in action next week in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Ryan McGuire and Brock Halsey each had three hits for Princeton. The Tigers visit Greater Beckley Christian Thursday.
Westside 10, Liberty 9
Clear Fork – Westside score eight runs in the first frame and held off a furious Liberty rally for a 10-9 win Wednesday.
Braxton Waldron led the Renegades with two hits and three RBI along with Alex Brunty who added a pair of hits to go with two RBI.
Kadien Vance, who threw out the tying run at the plate to win the game, also had two hits and Charlie Hawks had a double.
Colton Tolliver had three hits, including a double, for Liberty and drove in two runs. Aiden Scarbrough drove in two runs and Isaac Williams had a pair of hits.
Liberty travels to Nicholas County Tuesday, while Westside visits Summers County Thursday.
Greenbrier East 8, Beckley 7
Fairlea – Greenbrier East scored one run in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Beckley 8-7 Wednesday at Spartan Yards.
Ashton Cochran singled home the game winner and had two hits on the night. Ian Cline also had two hits, including a double, and an RBI.
Darris Boswell hit a double and drove in a run as well for the Spartans.
Ty Evans had two hits and two RBI for Beckley, while Blake Stratton collected two hits and an RBI.
Beckley travels to Riverside Thursday, while Greenbrier East heads to the Eastern Panhandle for games with Washington and Martinsburg over the weekend.
