Birmingham, AL. – The Glenville State Women’s Basketball Team overcame a 29-27 halftime deficit to defeat Grand Valley St. 77-53 in the NCAA Division II national semifinals Wednesday evening at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Alabama.
Led by a game-high 19 points from Mountain East Conference Player of the Year Re’Shawna Stone, the Lady Pioneers outscored Grand Valley 22-12 in the third quarter and 28-12 in the final frame to pull away and secure the first title berth in National Championship history.
Wyoming East graduate Skylar Davidson played 19 minutes in the game, collecting four steals and scoring two points. Her only bucket of the game, coming in the third quarter, gave the Lady Pioneers the lead for good.
The Lady Pioneers (34-1) will look to cap their stellar season with a win on Friday when they play the winner of Wednesday’s matchup between No. 5 Western Washington and No. 1 North Georgia on Friday at 8 p.m. EST. The game can be viewed on the CBS Sports app.
