RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man, who was prohibited from possessing or buying a firearm, is in jail after having a gun and firing shots.
Raleigh County deputies received a shots fired complaint on Beth Lane in Stanaford of Raleigh County. The victim stated that Dustin John Hawkins engaged in a dispute regarding a rooster. The disagreement was hostile in nature, and the victim felt threatened after Hawkins displayed a weapon in the manner he did and fired one round.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Hawkins was prohibited from owning a firearm due to a Domestic Violence order issued in North Carolina last September and still in effect until September of 2021.
Hawkins is charged with brandishing, persons prohibited from possessing firearms and discharge within 500 feet of a dwelling. He is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 7,500 dollar bond.
