“Currently, we are evaluating our options, which include investing in our current facilities or finding a building in or around Columbus that better meets the needs of our workforce. No decisions have been made, and we are committed to working with the city as we move forward,” the spokesperson said in a release.
AEP is home to about 17,000 employees and operates the nation’s largest electricity transmission system.
The company services more than 200,000 square miles across 11 states and provides power to nearly 5.6 million customers.
The company moved its headquarters from New York to Columbus in 1980. Recently, AEP ended its hybrid work model, requiring employees to return to the office five days a week.
