PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A domestic disturbance call on the evening of May 5, 2025, led to the arrest of a Princeton man after a violent altercation involving a female victim.
At approximately 10:17 p.m., officers from the Princeton Police Department, including Patrolman S.W. Owens, Lt. Combs, and Patrolman E.F. Ford, were dispatched to a residence on Bluefield Avenue following a report of an active domestic incident.
Upon arrival, officers identified and detained the suspect, 33-year-old Brian Anthony Ray. According to the police report, the situation began earlier that evening when the pair were en route to a store. Tensions escalated after the woman refused to buy Ray an alcoholic beverage, prompting him to become agitated.
The situation deteriorated further outside a local Pizza Hut on Stafford Drive. The victim stated she witnessed Ray pour alcohol on her vehicle’s windshield before both returned to the car, where he allegedly began hitting the dashboard and poking her near the collarbone. When she attempted to deflect his hand, Ray reportedly struck the back of her head with a closed fist and attempted a second strike, which she prevented by stopping the vehicle.
Ray then fled on foot but later returned to the shared residence on Bluefield Avenue, where he refused to leave despite being asked. Law enforcement was then contacted.
A neighbor, who also serves as an EMS worker, evaluated the victim at the scene and described a “tennis ball sized knot” on her head as a result of the alleged assault. She declined further medical treatment.
Ray was arrested on the charge of domestic battery and transported to Princeton Community Hospital for medical clearance.
Authorities confirmed that both parties reside at the same address and are in a domestic relationship.
