THAXTON, VA (LOOTPRESS) – Three Appalachian Power linemen went beyond their duties Saturday, saving a motorist from raging floodwaters in Thaxton, Virginia.
While restoring power in the area, Jeff D., Cameron L., and Tyler B. encountered a flooded road where a driver attempted to cross.
As the rushing water swept the motorist’s Jeep into trees, he exited the vehicle and was carried away by the current. Clinging to a tree limb, the man struggled to stay above water.
The linemen sprang into action, with Cameron wading through neck-deep water to reach the motorist while Jeff and Tyler assisted in pulling him to safety.

All four were taken to a local hospital and treated for hypothermia. Fortunately, they were released in good condition.
Remarkably, rather than taking a break, the linemen returned to work the next day to continue restoring power to customers.
