BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Appalachian Power will begin a scheduled reliability improvement project in Beckley this Sunday, June 22, that is expected to cause temporary traffic delays along Robert C. Byrd Drive.
The project involves replacing existing power lines with larger, upgraded lines to enhance electrical reliability and accommodate increased power demand due to new business development in the area.
The upgrades will also enable the state to proceed with planned repairs to the Mabscott Plus 1 Bridge.
Work is scheduled to take place between 6:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., weather permitting.
The affected area stretches along Robert C. Byrd Drive between Depot Street and Frontier Street.
Appalachian Power crews will be on-site, supported by traffic control personnel and local law enforcement to manage vehicle flow and ensure public safety.
Motorists are advised to use caution and plan for potential delays during the project hours.
