MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Monday, December 16, 2024, Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of an armed man inside a law office on Dorsey Avenue in Morgantown.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, Morgantown Police Department, West Virginia State Police, and Mon EMS, arrived on the scene.
Authorities shut down a portion of Dorsey Avenue as a precaution while attempting to communicate with the man, who was alone inside the building.
Crisis negotiators from the Monongalia County Special Response Team, with the support of officers at the scene, established contact with the individual.
After approximately five and a half hours, the man surrendered without further incident.
He was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital for evaluation. No criminal charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
The incident was handled under the authority of Monongalia County Sheriff Perry Palmer.
