Independence 12, Logan 6
Logan – In a matchup of Class AA title hopefuls, No. 1 Independence took down reigning state champion and No. 2-ranked Logan 12-6 Monday at Logan.
After trading three runs each in the third inning, Indy exploded for six in the top of the fourth to take the lead for good.
Andy Lester led the way for the Patriots by driving in five runs while Atticus Goodson picked up three hits.
Jake Ramey led the Wildcats with two hits and two RBIs in the loss.
Indy improves to 13-2 and will host PikeView on Tuesday.
Greenbrier East 9, Riverside 3
Belle – Greenbrier East scored all nine of its runs in the first two innings to take a 9-3 win over Riverside Monday night at Riverside.
Chris Heaster, Peyton Dehaven, and Jake Roshau each drove in two runs in the win.
East improves to 11-11 and will host Beckley on Wednesday.
Shady Spring 19, Nicholas County 8
Shady Spring 18, Nicholas County 2
Summersville – Shady Spring scored a combined 37 runs Monday, sweeping a road doubleheader against Nicholas County with 19-8 and 18-2 wins.
Aden Seabolt collected six hits on the day, driving in six runs while Josh Lovell also notched six hits including a homer run.
Cameron Manns and David young picked up the wins for the Tigers on the mound.
Shady improves to 16-3 and will host Princeton on Tuesday.
