Greenbrier East 3, George Washington 2
Fairlea – Greenbrier East scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh for a dramatic 3-2 win over George Washington.
The Spartans managed just three hits on the day, but had a pair of big ones when it mattered.
Ian Cline smacked a double to score Peyton DeHaven for the first Greenbrier East run before Chris Heaster doubled home the tying and winning runs later in the inning for the walk-off win.
Darris Boswell pitched six strong innings allowing just four hits and two runs. Gabe Patton pitched a scoreless seventh to get the win.
Moorefield 6, Greenbrier West 5
Morgantown – After trailing 6-1, the Greenbrier West rally fell one run short Saturday in a 6-5 loss to three-time defending Class A state champion Moorefield in the Monongalia County Baseball Classic.
Chase McClung and Dale Boone had two hits apiece. McClung’s day included a home run and Boone smacked a triple.
Cole Vandall had three hits including a triple and a double. Braydon McClung added a triple and Ethan Holliday had a double in the Cavaliers 10-hit attack.
The YellowJackets had just one earned run as West committed four errors on the day.
Sissonville 5, Independence 2 (9 innings)
Sissonville – The Indians pushed one run across in the home half of the ninth inning to defeat Independence Saturday, 5-4.
The Patriots took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but could not hold the advantage. Indy needed a run in the seventh to extend the game to extras.
Atticus Goodson hit a home run and had two RBI, while J.D. Monroe also drove in a run and Carson Brown drilled a double for the Patriots.
Shady Spring 8, Riverside 5
Belle- Shady Spring scored eight runs in the first three innings to run past Class AAA Riverside, 8-5 Saturday.
Josh Lovell had a double and two RBI, while Aden Seabolt also drove in a pair of runs. Evan Belcher collected three hits including a double. Cam Mann hit an RBI double for the Tigers.
Belcher, David Young and Colten Tate combined to lead Shady Spring on the mound.
Bluefield 16, Nicholas County 6
Summersville – Bluefield piled up 15 hits to defeat Nicholas County 16-6 Saturday.
Kerry Collins had three hits including a home run and two RBI. Ryker Brown had four hits including a double and also drove in two runs.
Davis Rockness had three RBI on the day, while Bryson Redmond, Hunter Harmon and Ryan Harris drove in two runs apiece.
Greater Beckley Christian 3, Teays Valley Christian 1
Scott Depot – Eli Grubb allowed just one run on three hits, while striking out 13 to lead Greater Beckley Christian to a 3-1 win over Teays Valley Christian Saturday.
Grubb led the offense also with three hits and scored two runs, while Reece Patterson had two hits.
Will Graham smacked a double and Hunter Crist had an RBI for the Crusaders.
