BEAVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Georges’ Taps & Italian Grill in Beaver opened its doors to the public on February 5th this year. It occupies the space which housed Padrino’s, a longtime favorite of locals.
Alex George is a native of Raleigh County. His family owned and operated a fashion store in the 60’s and 70’s, and his Georges’ logo is a nod to his family’s history. Mr. George lived in San Diego, California until recently and ran a food truck and catering business. Mr. George moved his family back to West Virginia when the restaurant space became available, and the community expressed excitement about his business. His plan was to make Georges’ a gathering place for the community. In July, he opened a bar next door to the restaurant, A Quarter Short.
Mr. George says, above all else, he and his family enjoy making people happy. He views Georges’ as one way of doing that. Beyond spending most of his day running his businesses, Mr. George also spends afternoons coaching the soccer team at Woodrow Wilson High School. He is passionate about his businesses and his involvement with the community.
Georges’ offers a variety of food specials as well as hosting a wine and paint night one Monday a month that features a charcuterie spread for participants. In the bar, Mr. George has been supporting the Appalachian Pinball League by hosting a weekly tournament. He has also hosted industry nights and spirit nights for local favorite sports teams. In an effort to make his business profitable, Georges’ has appeared with their food truck at Fright Nights WV, where they are dishing up “Tacos and Terror” every Friday and Saturday during the event. In the future, Mr. George hopes to take his food truck to Winterplace during their events and is offering event space inside Georges’ for hosting parties and events.
Mr. George is hoping to see many new faces in the coming months as people begin to venture out more. Georges’ and Quarter Short have weathered some of the storms of a post-Covid world. As many small business owners would agree, supply chain issues, labor shortages, and rising costs have made owning and operating a business challenging. One thing is certain, Georges’ Taps and Italian Grill has delicious food and provides fun alternatives in the Beaver, WV, community.
If you would like to show support for Georges’ Taps and Italian Grill, you can find them on Facebook and Instagram under Georges’ Italian Grill or Quarter Short WV.
