Last year the Beckley Babe Ruth 14U All-Star team made history by advancing to the Babe Ruth World Series in Fredericksburg, VA.
New year and some new faces, but the same ultimate goal.
Thursday afternoon, the Beckley boys start their World Series quest when they face off against the host team, Crown Point Red (Indiana), to open pool play in the 2024 Ohio Valley 14U Regional Tournament.
The tournament field is made up of seven teams with each team playing two games in pool play. Teams will then be seeded for single elimination bracket play which begins Friday at noon, CST.
Game two for Beckley will be Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. against Janesville (Wisconsin).
Semifinal bracket play will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The championship game is set for Sunday at 10 a.m.
The Ohio Valley Regional champion will advance to the 14U Babe Ruth World Series played in Eagle Pass, TX from Aug. 8-18.
Will Farrish, Chance Moore, Kyler Quesenberry, Jacob Varney, Blake Pugalee and the Midland Trail triplets, Preston Eades, Kolton Eades and Anderson Eades all played on the 14U team a year ago. They will be joined by Parker Hodge, Braxton Nuckolls and Mason Adams.
Don Varney is the manager, along with coaches Chris Quesenberry and Chris Farrish.
The reaming teams in the Ohio Valley 14U Regional are Sheridan Park (Chicago, Illinois), Munster (Indiana), Eau Claire (Wisconsin) and Crown Point Bulldogs (Indiana).
