SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Summers County head football coach, Chris Vicars, is stepping down.
Vicars announced via Facebook, saying in part, “It has certainly been a very tough decision to make as I have thoroughly enjoyed working with some of the great young people in Summers County. I have always had to balance my administrative job with my coaching job, which has remained one of the toughest challenges I have had in my career. I also have a strong desire to spend more time with family and help them through some recent medical issues. I don’t ever want to shortchange my family or our football family. Our program deserves a leader that can continue to devote their time and energy to these wonderful young people.”

“Good Afternoon Bobcat Nation,
I want to let all of Bobcat Nation know that I will be stepping away from the Bobcat Football Program as the Head Coach. It has certainly been a very tough decision to make as I have thoroughly enjoyed working with some of the great young people in Summers County. I have always had to balance my administrative job with my coaching job and that has remained one of the toughest challenges I have had in my career. I also have a strong desire to spend more time with family and help them and us through some recent medical issues. I don’t ever want to shortchange my family or our football family. Our program deserves a leader that can continue to devote their time and energy to these wonderful young people.
I would certainly like to thank everyone that helped make our program so successful over the past 4 years. We certainly could not have had the success that we were able to have without the many coaches, parents, grandparents, and community members that had had such an impact over the years. I would also like to thank the administration of Summers County High School and the Summers County School system as they have allowed me to continue to do something that I have loved most of my life. I would also like to thank my own family for giving up their time with me as I continued to coach. They are my “why” and I so look forward to spending more time with them.
Once again, Thank you all for your support. I will still be one of Summers County Bobcat Football’s biggest fans and promise to do whatever I can in order to help the program moving forward.
Always a Bobcat,
Coach Chris Vicars”
