BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Federal funding has been allocated for a new fire truck for the Beckley Fire Department.
On Friday, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) helped secure a number of West Virginia priorities in the bipartisan appropriations package.
They also included $191,265,370 in Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) requests, or earmarks, for 151 West Virginia projects.
Both Manchin and Capito say they are glad to have secured the funding for various projects in West Virginia and fund the federal government.
“As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I fight every day to ensure West Virginia receives the federal resources we need to build stronger communities, spur economic opportunity, and strengthen our energy and national security,” Manchin said.
“I was proud to be able to ensure these bills have West Virginia priorities included, and I look forward to completing the remaining bills to conclude the FY24 budget process soon,” Capito said.
One of those projects include the funding for a new fire truck for the Beckley Fire Department.
$1,182,000 has been allocated to the City of Beckley for the purchase of the new truck.
The Beckley Police Department will also receive funding from these appropriations packages. You can read more about that here.
