BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Beckley man is facing multiple charges after police say a domestic dispute turned violent and led to the discovery of fentanyl hidden under a home where children were present.
According to a criminal complaint, on October 18, officers were dispatched to a home in Beckley for a domestic disturbance in progress. When they arrived, they found several people in the yard arguing and quickly separated those involved.
The victim told officers that her boyfriend, Eddie Mullens, had been using drugs and was “nodding out” in front of the children.
She said that after Mullens came down from his high, he became angry and attacked her, choking her until she fought back in self-defense. Officers noted visible redness and marks around her neck.
A child who witnessed the assault told police she saw Mullens on top of her mother and tried to pull him away. The child also said Mullens hid clothing beneath the house before officers arrived.
With the mother’s consent, officers searched beneath the home and found a pair of sweatpants containing a loaded syringe and a piece of foil with 1.35 grams of fentanyl. Mullens admitted the drugs were his and confirmed they contained fentanyl.
Mullens was arrested and taken to the Beckley Police Department for processing. Following the investigation, officers determined he was the primary aggressor based on evidence and witness statements.
He now faces multiple charges, including:
-
Domestic Battery (First Offense)
-
Strangulation
-
Possession of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl)
-
Child Neglect Creating Risk of Injury
He is currently out on bond.
