BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Beckley man has been sentenced to nearly two years in federal prison on a drug charge, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia.
Michael Bailey, 37, was sentenced Friday to one year and 11 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for distribution of five grams or more of methamphetamine.
According to court documents, Bailey sold approximately 57 grams of methamphetamine for $480 to a confidential informant in Beckley on Aug. 22, 2024.
U.S. Attorney Moore Capito announced the sentence and commended the investigative work of the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit.
The unit includes officers from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, West Virginia State Police, the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office and the Beckley Police Department.
Chief U.S. District Judge Frank W. Volk imposed the sentence. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian D. Parsons prosecuted the case.
