BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Beckley City Council has named an interim City Manager.
On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, the Council voted to name Phillip T. Jarrell as the interim City Manager after the last City manager, Michael Resare, resigned.
Jarrell will start on March 1 and earn an annual salary of $110,000. According to City Attorney Bill File, Jarrell has been a long-time Raleigh County Board of Education employee.
The vote to name Jarrell as interim City Manager was 6 to 1. The one opposing vote was from Sherrie Hunter, who said Jarrell was qualified, but many of her constituents had been advocating for Danielle Stewart to be City Manager, and she thought their voices should be heard.
