BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Beckley Police Department is reminding residents to follow the city’s fireworks laws and practice safe celebrations ahead of the Fourth of July.
According to the department, fireworks are permitted in the City of Beckley only between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. on July 4 and Memorial Day, provided they are discharged in a responsible manner in accordance with the city’s municipal code.
Police also remind residents that individuals using fireworks must be at least 18 years old and are responsible for cleaning up any debris left behind after use.
The department noted that anyone using fireworks may also be responsible for costs associated with any fire suppression efforts resulting from their use.
Officials emphasized that fireworks cannot be discharged from a motor vehicle and may not be set off from any public street, highway, or sidewalk.
The Beckley Police Department encourages residents to celebrate responsibly, respect their neighbors, and help keep the community safe throughout the holiday.
