BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Beckley Police Department has announced an increase in traffic enforcement efforts throughout the city in response to concerns from residents about speeding.
In a public notice, Beckley Police Chief Dean R. Bailey said traffic safety remains a top priority and that officers will be focusing enforcement efforts in designated areas across Beckley.
“Traffic safety remains one of our highest priorities,” Bailey said. “In response to numerous citizen complaints regarding speeding throughout our communities, officers will be increasing traffic enforcement efforts in designated areas across the City of Beckley.”
According to Bailey, officers will conduct increased patrols and speed enforcement operations at various times and locations throughout the city.
The initiative is aimed at improving roadway safety, reducing crashes and protecting motorists, pedestrians and neighborhoods.
Bailey encouraged drivers to obey posted speed limits, avoid distracted driving and use caution while traveling on city streets.
“Our goal is to promote safe driving habits and prevent injuries and accidents,” Bailey said.
Bailey also thanked residents for their cooperation and support of the initiative.
“We appreciate the public’s cooperation and commitment to making Beckley a safer place for everyone. Drive safely, slow down, and help us keep our community safe,” Bailey said.
The increased enforcement effort will take place at various times and locations throughout the city.
