BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An adult female died earlier this morning in a fire at a home in Beckley.
Firefighters from the Beckley Fire Department responded to the fire at around 2:00 a.m. today, Feb. 20th. The home is in the 200 block of Larew Avenue. Firefighters found the body of an 80-year-old female at the scene.
Investigators with the WV State Fire Marshal’s Office were called to the scene. The fire is still under investigation, but it is most probably accidental in nature. There were smoke alarms found in the home, but it is unknown if they were working at the time of the fire.
The victim has been transported to the WV Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and positive identification.
