This recognition places Bluefield State among a select group of institutions that deliver strong value, meaningful outcomes, and accessible opportunity for students across the state.
Research.com’s rankings draw on publicly available data that measure cost, graduation rates, academic quality, and alumni earnings. This year’s top institutions include Bluefield State University, Marshall University, West Virginia University, and Concord University.
Bluefield State stands out for its community focused mission and its strong student success momentum. With a total cost of $16,560, Bluefield State sits in the mid-range for state institutions, and graduates earn a median salary of $48,438. These results reflect a rising return on investment for students who want to build their future close to home, the report said.

This fall, the university reported enrollment of more than 1,400 students, which marks an increase of nearly ten percent over last year. First-time freshman enrollment grew by almost forty-four percent, a sign that more families are seeing Bluefield State as a trusted pathway to opportunity.
The recognition also reinforces the important role Bluefield State plays in increasing the number of West Virginians who hold a college degree. As the state advances WV Climb, the Higher Education Policy Commission initiative aimed at reaching 60 percent credential attainment, Bluefield State is helping drive that progress through career aligned programs in engineering, nursing, education, business, and applied technologies.
